The Inbio single door panel is the controller behind one access controlled door, and it is the version to choose when you want fingerprint entry. It takes fingerprint templates from the reader over RS485 and matches them at the panel, which the C3 range does not do. One door makes it the right size for a server room, a records office, a stock room or the front door of a small unit.
Specifications
| Doors controlled | One. Step up to the two door or four door version if you are securing more. |
|---|---|
| Biometric support | Accepts the fingerprint reader over RS485, with templates matched at the panel rather than the door. |
| Other credentials | Card and fob readers work too, so staff who cannot or prefer not to use a fingerprint still have a way in. |
| Access rules | Set who can open the door and when, so contractors get weekday daytime access and managers get any time. |
| Audit trail | Every entry is recorded against a named person, so you can answer who was in a restricted area and when. |
What you will need
A panel controls the door but does not read anyone in. Add a fingerprint reader for the entry side, or an RFID reader if you would rather use cards. Then a lock such as a mag lock, a push to exit and break glass for the secure side, and a power supply.
Before you install biometrics
Fingerprint data is special category data under UK GDPR, so you need a lawful basis and usually a data protection impact assessment before rolling it out, and staff need an alternative if they object. This panel supports card and fob readers alongside fingerprint for exactly that reason. Our guide to UK GDPR and workforce data covers what you need in place, and our data security page explains how the data is stored.
Inbio or C3?
Both ranges come in one, two and four door versions and do the same core job. Inbio is the one to pick if any door needs fingerprint entry. If everyone on site will use a card or fob, the C3 single door panel is the cheaper and simpler choice.
