Employee checking holiday entitlement and booking leave through the Computime Realtime employee portal

Make leave requests and check entitlements

Staff see their remaining leave balance and a clear list of what is booked, pending and declined, so the question of how many days they have left stops arriving in someone’s inbox. Requests are submitted through the portal and go straight to the approver, and the balance updates as soon as a request is approved. It runs on the same records as your absence management.

Real time timesheets

Employees see their own hours as they are recorded, rather than at the end of the month when the pay is already calculated.

Hours as they happen: staff see what has been recorded and how it has been calculated, not a total that appears on payday.

Mistakes caught early: a missed clocking or a wrong shift gets flagged by the person it affects, while it is still easy to fix.

Fewer payroll queries: most “I think my hours are wrong” conversations happen before payroll runs rather than after it.

No need to ask: employees check their own hours without going through HR or payroll.

Remote clock in

Staff working away from a clocking terminal can clock in and out through the portal in a browser, so hours are recorded rather than reconstructed later. For mobile and field teams the Syncro Connect app does the same from a phone and records GPS at the point of clocking.

Works away from the terminal

Home workers, hybrid staff and anyone who does not pass a clocking machine can still record their hours.

Recorded, not remembered

The time is captured when it happens rather than written down at the end of the week, so the timesheet reflects what actually occurred.

One set of records

Remote clockings sit alongside terminal clockings in the same system, so payroll is working from one place rather than two.

Schedule and planner

Staff see the shifts they are down for and the leave that has been approved, in one place, so nobody is working from a printout that changed on Tuesday.

Current schedule, not last week’s: employees check their shifts in the portal rather than relying on a copy that may have been amended since.

Leave shown alongside shifts: approved time off appears against the schedule, so staff can see what they are working around before they book anything.

Fewer “am I in on Saturday?” messages: the answer is in the portal, which is usually quicker than asking and always more reliable.

Update your own information

Staff keep their own details current in the portal, so the record HR is working from is the one the employee last checked rather than the one they gave you when they joined.

Staff update their own details

Address, phone number, next of kin and emergency contacts, changed by the person who knows they have changed.

One record, not three

The change lands in the same employee record HR and managers work from, so nothing is updated in one place and missed in another.

Emergency contacts you can rely on

The detail nobody thinks about until it matters. Staff who can update it themselves are far more likely to keep it current than staff who have to ask.

Why choose Computime?

For over 35 years, since 1989, we have helped UK businesses give staff self-service access to their schedules, holiday and hours, which takes a lot of routine questions off managers’ desks.

The employee web portal runs in a browser as part of Realtime. If you want the same self-service on a phone, that is the Syncro Connect app, and we will tell you honestly which suits your situation rather than selling you both.

Both are built and supported by our own team in Leeds, with no minimum headcount and room to scale to 5,000 employees. When you call, you speak to someone here.

What our customers say

We are really pleased with our Computime solution. Introducing this system means that payroll is now processed accurately and efficiently, helping to boost morale both for our head office staff and our field teams. Real time data means we know where our employees are, allowing us to operate more efficiently.

James Dunlop

Financial Manager, Landworth Electrics

We are very pleased with the smooth implementation. Computime worked very hard to make sure installation was completed within the time frame and with minimum disruption. The in-depth training allowed us to focus on production and keeping our employees safe at work while ensuring efficiency.

Clare Barker

HR Manager, Wholebake Limited

I was tasked with sourcing a computerised time and attendance solution to replace our manual clocking system. The Computime website contained all the information I needed, making the decision straightforward. The software proved easy to use and the helpdesk was very helpful and friendly. Computime have exceeded all of our expectations and objectives. I would definitely recommend them.

Employee web portal FAQs

Common questions from Realtime customers and their staff. If yours is not here, call the Leeds team on 0113 350 9043.

Where do I log in to the Computime employee portal?
It depends which system your employer uses. Realtime employee portal addresses are specific to each customer, usually on your own company’s server or web address, so there is no single Computime login page for it. Your employer or whoever manages the system will have the address. If your workplace uses Syncro Connect instead, that is at syncroconnect.com or through the mobile app. If you are not sure which you have, ask your manager before ringing us, since we cannot give out access to an employer’s system.
What is an employee self-service portal?
An employee self-service portal is a secure area where staff view and manage their own work records without going through HR or a manager. Typically that means checking their schedule, requesting holiday, seeing how much entitlement is left, viewing their timesheets and updating their own contact details. The point is that the person who knows the answer, or needs the answer, can get at it directly.
Is the employee web portal the same as the Syncro Connect app?
No. The employee web portal is part of Realtime, our installed system, and runs in a browser. The Syncro Connect app is the cloud equivalent and came later, adding clocking in and out with GPS from a phone. They do a similar job for staff. Which one you have depends on which system your employer runs, and most new customers now start with Syncro.
Can employees see their payslips in the portal?
No. The portal covers time, attendance and absence: hours worked, schedules, holiday and personal details. Payslips come from your payroll system, which is separate. Approved hours from Realtime export into payroll, but the payslip itself is produced and issued there.
Do employees need training to use it?
Not usually. Most staff work out booking holiday and checking hours without being shown. What is worth doing is telling people it exists and what they can do with it, because the common failure is not that staff cannot use a portal, it is that nobody told them they had one. Managers and approvers get a short walkthrough as part of setup.
Can staff see each other’s information?
No. Employees see their own record only. Managers see the people they are responsible for, and that can be restricted by department so a supervisor sees their own team rather than the whole business. Employment records are personal data under UK GDPR, so who can see what is worth setting up deliberately rather than leaving at the default.
Is the employee web portal still being developed?
It is supported, and Realtime customers who use it can carry on doing so. New development goes into Syncro Connect and its mobile app, which is where self-service has moved. If you are choosing a system now rather than already running Realtime, we would point you at Syncro. If you are an existing Realtime customer, nothing is being taken away and we will tell you plainly if that ever changes.
Can we move from the portal to the app?
Yes, though it means moving from Realtime to Syncro Connect rather than just switching the front end, since the portal and the app belong to different systems. Whether that is worth doing depends on what else you use Realtime for: it has features Syncro does not, including HR, document management, job costing and direct Sage Payroll integration. Tell us what you actually use and we will give you a straight answer rather than a sales pitch.
