The Bioface Clock is a facial recognition clocking terminal for indoor use. Staff clock in and out by looking at the screen, with no card to carry and nothing to touch, and their hours pass straight into Computime time and attendance software. It recognises people from up to three metres, so they are identified as they walk up rather than having to stop and line up at the screen. The same unit can control door entry through access control.
Specifications
| Recognition | Visible light facial recognition with a deep learning algorithm and a dual camera for real time face detection. Copes better with head angle and lighting than older infrared terminals. |
|---|---|
| Recognition distance | 0.3 to 3 metres, so staff are recognised as they approach and a shift changeover does not turn into a queue. |
| Models | V5L [P] face and palm. V5L [FP] face, palm and fingerprint. V5L [QR] face, palm and QR code. |
| Screen | 5 inch colour touchscreen. |
| Connectivity | TCP/IP and Wi-Fi, so it can run on a network point or wirelessly where cabling is difficult. |
| External readers | Accepts RS232, RS485 and Wiegand readers, so it can sit alongside existing access control equipment. |
| Installation | For indoor use. For a site gate or outdoor entrance, use the External Bioface Clock. |
Before you install biometrics
Facial recognition data is special category data under UK GDPR, so you need a lawful basis and usually a data protection impact assessment before rolling it out, and staff need an alternative if they object. This terminal supports card and fob clocking alongside face for exactly that reason. Our guide to UK GDPR and attendance data covers what you need in place, and our data security page explains how the data is stored.
How it compares
The Bioface MTD Clock covers the same ground with fingerprint added. The Eface10 is the option where speed at a busy entrance matters most. If you would rather avoid biometrics entirely, the S600 uses cards and fobs only. Background on the options is on our facial recognition page, and the full range is on the products page.
