What is GPS clocking?
GPS clocking lets staff clock in and out from their own phone using the Syncro Connect app, and records their location at the moment they clock. It gives you a verified time and place for every shift, which is ideal for field, mobile, and multi-site teams who do not work at a fixed terminal.
Does the app track staff location all day?
No. The app records location at the point of clocking in and out, not continuously through the day. Employers should be clear with staff about what is recorded and why, in line with ICO guidance on monitoring workers.
What devices does GPS clocking work on?
It works on any iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, usually the employee’s own device. There is no fixed terminal to install, so staff can clock in from any job or site.
What happens if a worker has no signal?
The clocking is held safely on the device if a worker travels out of range or loses connection, then syncs automatically when they are back online. No clockings are lost.
Can it record travel time and mileage between jobs?
Yes. Travel time and distance between jobs can be captured and logged against specific job or case numbers, which makes expenses and job costing more accurate.
Do the hours flow through to payroll?
Yes. Approved hours flow into payroll with direct Sage Payroll integration and export for Pegasus and QuickBooks, so there is no manual re-keying.
