Case study
Broxton Industries: from paper clock cards to payroll without retyping
Broxton Industries is a family-run parts manufacturer in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, managing customers’ part supply from design through to delivery since 1973. In 2026 it moved from manual clock cards to Syncro Connect, with staff clocking in on facial recognition terminals.

The challenge
Broxton recorded working hours on manual clocking in cards. Every pay period, the hours had to be read off the cards and worked out by hand before they could go into payroll. The business decided to move to an electronic system for two reasons: accuracy, and a more efficient payroll run.
What changed
Staff now clock in and out on a facial recognition terminal, so hours are recorded at the time they are actually worked. Day to day, the accounts team can check lateness, absence, starters and early leavers as they happen, rather than finding gaps at the end of the month. When payroll comes round, a report is run to check against the payroll export, which is then uploaded into Sage 50 Payroll.
In their words
“Day to day it is easy to check for lateness, absence, starters and early leavers, and be sure that the information is correct. It is simple to run a report to check against the payroll export and upload into Sage 50 Payroll without errors, as the time is the actual time worked.”
